In an era when countless hip-hop artists are choosing to not use their platform responsibly, Ish Williams is truly a breath of fresh air. Deciding to take the road less traveled by not separating the art from the artist, Ish thoroughly documents his battles with depression and various ups and downs of life throughout his music creating a unique connection with his fans and followers that allow them to truly understand the Collingswood native.
If I were to describe Ish’s music, I’d have to label it as “human music”, so much honesty, relatability, and enough depth to tug on the heartstrings of anyone in any age group. Mix that with his keen ear for bright vibrant production and ability to create catchy melodies and you have a rarity in the hip-hop landscape.
Though it has been almost a year since Ish released a full-length body of work that hasn’t stopped him from releasing quality loose tracks in the mean time like “Pull Up”, and “Chasin'”. His recent contribution to W.A.W.A, a EP that features himself and members of the $outh$ide crew Mir Fontane, Kev Rodgers, and Shaqeyah, Ish proves he has taken his craft it to another level, even escaping the shadow of being viewed as a sidekick to Fontane.
With upcoming performances in Atlanta during A3C, and new music in the tuck that’s he’s itching to release to the world, its safe to say Ish is going to end the 2017 on a high note and carry that momentum into 2018 for what might be his breakout year, but what do I know? Only time will tell.
